3 Things I’m Loving This Week….

So, with days filled with summer school programs, football practices, meetings, and mountains of admin work to get done, it can be difficult to find “me time.” I am always looking for ways to relax and decompress from the job, kids and hubby. This week, the three things that I am being intentional about are:


  1. Netflix’s Original Series, “Stranger Things”

OMG! I was told about this show by my nail lady and man, was she right. Created by the Duffer Brothers (Hidden, Wayward Pines), this sci-fi horror series takes place in a small town in Indiana during the 1980’s. The storyline follows a missing young boy and a telekinetic girl, who helps his friends in their search, while the boy’s older brother and the town police chief start their own investigations.

I can tell you that within the first five minutes of the pilot episode, I was hooked. This is a well-written series and the 80’s setting definitely takes me back to my childhood. The only thing that I can honestly say that I dislike about this series is that the first season is only eight episodes. I guess Netflix wanted to get a feeler for if this show is a keeper. Well I’m here to tell you Netflix, this show deserves to stay in rotation.


  1. Nike Training Club (NTC) App

I am a person that enjoys going to the gym and I like my workouts as simplified as possible. Personal trainers are great at simplifying. You show up to the gym and the trainer takes the helm instructing you on what to do with your body from start to finish, all while giving encouraging words and pushing you to your limit. Sounds great right? Well, what doesn’t sound great is the monthly price tag that is associated with said trainer. Here’s where NTC comes in to play. This app is your ultimate in personal training, NTC boasts over 100 workouts designed to improve strength, endurance and mobility. Workouts range from 5 minutes to 45 minutes and can target any body part you desire.

Once you create your app profile, if desired, NTC will customize a workout plan just for you. Your plan will include weight training, cardio and even rest days. What I like most about this app aside from the customized workout plans are the training videos. Each exercise has a video associated with it that automatically plays, giving you visual cues on how to adjust your form to ensure that each exercise is done with maximum effectiveness. Oh yeah, and did I mention that the app shouts encouraging words to push you to completion. And after all of that, NTC will cool you down with a round of cool down stretches and exercises. This app does it all! With a price tag of free, what more could you ask for.


  1. inkWELL Press

If you are a planner person, this site is worth the investment. inkWELL Press is an organizers dream!
